Job Title:  Engineering Specialist

An Engineering Specialist (ES) provides hands-on technical support for all facets of the production process.  This includes working with production on problems as they develop in normal day to day operations and training production employees to be FAI mechanics. The ES serves as a technical liaison between engineering and production. The ES will help Engineers gain hands-on experience when developing solutions to material and process issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understand engineering drawings, specifications, and 3D model-based definitions. 
  • Using our MRP and computer system, create BOM’s, Item Masters and Planning.
  • Consult with Engineering when designing composite or metal production tooling.
  • Interfacing with the customer to solve technical issues.
  • Liaison to mechanics when production issues arise on the shop floor.  
  • Assist in solving quality or efficiency issues.     
  • Actively support and participate in continuous improvement activities, team meetings, and holding him/herself accountable for sustaining improvements.
  • Perform other basic engineering functions as assigned.

·        FPQ - First Part Qualification and First Articles:

o   Develop First part qualification planning,

o   Destruct planning,

o   Work with production and tooling to develop plan and process,

o   Work with production and customer during the first part qualification,

o   Work with appropriate personnel during the destruct process,

o   Write First Part Qualification report for submittal to customer,

o   Read and interpret engineering drawings and specification,

o   Follow parts through and resolve issues as they develop.

·        NCR Dispositions as they pertain to manufacturing

o   Determine Root Cause and Corrective Action.

o   Rework planners as required.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma.
  • Engineering degree or equivalent technical aerospace experience.
  • Two years in a Leadership role.

 TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

·        Must be familiar with material properties, mechanical principles, and application of mathematics and dimensions to a designed and manufactured component.

·        Able to mentally visualize and understand the design of a component, and visualize how that component could be manufactured. 

·        Working knowledge of computer systems and data processing.

JOB TITLE: Engineer

An Engineer provides technical support for all facets of the production process.  This includes creating the technical foundation needed for new production to succeed, acting as a liaison to meet the technical needs of existing production, designing production tooling, developing solutions to material and process issues, developing production controls, and interfacing with customers when technical issues arise.  An Engineer must be capable of working in cooperation with others to achieve successful solutions to technical problems.       

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical support for new contracts or current production.
    • Performs contract review activities. 
    • Thoroughly understanding engineering drawings, specifications, and 3D model-based definitions and conveying this knowledge to Production, Quality, and Purchasing in an understandable way. 
    • Creating bills of material in MRP system to support Purchasing Group.
    • Maintain Item Masters in M2M. 
    • Authoring shop floor planning documents – instructions the mechanics follow as they produce the contract items.
    • Designing composite or metal production tooling.
    • Interfacing with the customer to solve technical issues.
    • Design and substantiate composite repairs (in support of MRO/repair contracts).
    • Liaison to mechanics when production issues arise on the shop floor.  
    • Assist in solving quality, production, or efficiency issues.     
  • Stays informed concerning new manufacturing technology and equipment, and investigates their potential applications. 
  • Evaluates and dispositions nonconforming products and materials in accordance with established procedures and work instructions.
  • Maintain and update Digital Product Definition Databases.
  • Assists with any customer audit that concerns technical/engineering processes and methods.
  • Actively support and participate in continuous improvement activities, team meetings, and holding him/herself accountable for sustaining improvements.

EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  • B.S. degree in Engineering, preferably in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

·       Must be able to learn about composite and metal-bonded structures and, with time and training, understand them from a technical perspective.   

·       Must be familiar with material properties, mechanical principles, and the application of mathematics and dimensions to a designed and manufactured component.

·       Must have 2D design skills as a minimum (AutoCad).  3D design skills would be beneficial (Solidworks, CATIA, etc).

·       Able to mentally visualize and understand the design of a component, and visualize how that component could be manufactured.  Attentive to details.

·       Working knowledge of computer systems and data processing.

 

 

 

 

 

JOB TITLE:  Inspector

 

The Quality Inspector is responsible for properly inspecting parts or tooling in conformance with standards and specifications.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·        Performs incoming/in-process/final dimensional/visual inspection of aerospace materials/parts/tooling in accordance with established procedures, work instructions, engineering drawings and industry specifications as needed.

·        Accepts or rejects materials/parts/tooling and records inspection results.

·        Documents nonconforming conditions for further disposition.

·        Perform calibration or review calibration certificates as designated.

·        Performs other duties as assigned.

·        Actively support and participate in continuous improvement activities, team meetings, and holding him/herself accountable for sustaining improvements.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

·        Education and Training

o   High School diploma or equivalent

o   Minimum one-year experience as an Inspector

o   Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings and have working familiarity with Geometric Tolerances and Dimensions.

o   Should be versatile as position may involve roving inspection in several areas.

o   Specific levels for vision and hearing may be required
